I had this idea for a blog post in the middle of the night and wrote it down on a piece of paper. However, I participate in a memoir writing group on Mondays (via Google Meet that I found on MeetUp.com) and didn’t really plan my day appropriately… so you get a short and sweet #MemoirMonday because I wanted to make sure to squeak it in February.
In that memoir writing group ironically we are going to talk about finding time to write next week. I swear I had this blog topic in mind before I heard that (seriously, I did and have the chicken scratch scrawled almost illegibly on a notepad to prove it). The reason I want to talk about this topic is I recently have started a routine that is making me very happy, generating results and I hope to continue doing this for as long as it feels write (sorry for all the stupid write/right jokes).
I have never been a morning person. I’m still not… however I find I am most successful at writing first thing in the morning. I get dressed and settle in my recliner and write stream-of-conscious-style in a notebook. I find I am most successful at just concentrated writing and following a thought to completion when I write long-hand in a notebook and don’t touch my computer, phone or iPad. Below is a little graphic I made about what works for me with my writing time. I look forward to learning more tips and techniques on finding and dedicating time to writing in my memoir class next week.

A Selby Sweetie Conclusion

You’re right, Morning is the best time to write with no distractions.
Most of my blogs thoughts comes to my mind with the first rays of sun light on me.
